About me

Hi, I'm Maeve. I’m a recent graduate from the Department of Education, Culture, and Society at the University of Utah. Prior to pursuing my PhD, I taught elementary education in various settings in New York City and as a Fulbright Fellow in South Korea. I obtained a Master's in Childhood Education from Fordham University and a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Ethics from Northwestern University.

My work is informed by both my research and my lived experiences as an educator. I’m passionate about pursuing equity in elementary education and teacher education through the rejection of school punishment and the use of abolitionist teaching. I specialize in the school/prison nexus and abolitionism, critical whiteness and Black male studies, early childhood education, and critical multicultural teacher education.
